Ben Ursel attends grade 9 at Mount Doug High School. He is 14 years old.
From a very early age, Ben showed an interest in photography. He would find any opportunity to take pictures of his surroundings and was interested in the results he produced. He wanted to learn about how the camera worked and seemed to understand that experimenting with different settings produced different results.
Ben was intrigued by the unique nature of many photographs, especially nature photography; and was inspired to study the fundamental concepts of photography and composition. He became an avid reader of photography books and set a goal to purchase a good camera.
In his young life, Ben has been fortunate to experience a number of incredible travel experiences including family trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Greece and Australia. He has experience sailing with his family and flown across Canada several times with his family in small aircraft.
Ben’s passion for photography allows him to express his love of nature and supports his dream of living an adventurous life. Ben feels fortunate to live on the west coast of BC as the diverse local environment; scenery and wildlife provides endless opportunities to capture special and unique pictures.
Ben’s goals for the future include;
* Continue to do both land and aerial photo shoots around the local area;
* Continue to excel in high school and attend the University of Victoria;
* Continue to find opportunities to do adventure travel photography with his family and on his own in the future
