Edward Spears
Edward Spears, C.S.M.A., F.C.A.
Moved to Vancouver Island in 1977 after a successful career in the Toronto Graphics and Publishing industry.
After teaching for a short while at Camosun College, he devoted, almost full time, to his medium gouache, a nineteenth century technique which displays a light reflecting brilliance from opaque watercolours.
His first one-man show was in Vancouver in 1979 and he has been in group shows in Canada and the USA.
Original works are represented in many private collections across Canada and in the United States.
To obtain material for his paintings, he and his wife Dorothy visit from time to time, various places in Europe, the Orient and the South East.
He is a member of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists, and of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Now in his nineties, he is still painting with his usual impeccable attention to detail.
